Navika Sagar Parikrama II: Indian Navy's All-Women Circumnavigation Expedition

On October 2, 2024, the Indian Navy launched the Navika Sagar Parikrama II, an all-women circumnavigation expedition aboard the sailing vessel INSV Tarini. Flagged off from INS Mandovi near Panaji, Goa, the eight-month voyage covers approximately 23,400 nautical miles, with planned stops including Fremantle (Australia), Lyttelton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Falkland Islands), and Cape Town (South Africa), before returning to Goa by May 2025. The expedition aims to enhance ocean sailing skills and contribute to scientific research in collaboration with institutions like the National Institute of Oceanography and the Wildlife Institute of India. Studies will focus on marine microplastics, ferrous content in seas, and marine megafauna, with support from Sagar Defence for drone-based visual documentation
